film: sherlock holmes...soo very relevant!

i found sherlock holmes to be strongly relevant as part of my research towards this project. i found points of reference for buildings, assets, textures and street layouts, as well as smaller assets like lamp posts, grid iron fencing/gates, carts, stalls, market places, etc etc.
these are a few of the scenes i found to be relevant, amongst others. i will begin designing some rough ideas on small assets and track design.

Research photos

Whilst working i noticed a large book on jack the ripper had been donated, so i quickly referenced some information and had some photographic references as well, showing various architectual structures found within the time period.

monaco circuit

monaco has some very interesting corners and layout which would be very suitable to a busy city environment or even a countryside (hedges being the barricades in this matter!), which makes the track an useful referencing point.

theres even track data for this track here, explaining why it is regarded as being one of the best race tracks in the world. very useful!

this would be a cool bend to utilise into my level. the bend is notorious for being difficult to navigate, the angle and severity of the slope which has adverse affects on the vehicle in regards to grip, and essentially blind to the driver as they head closer to the corner. i will analyse more tracks that have unique corners (such as the monaco circuit with the tunnel and casino square, and spa with its high speed S bend.

First day

were assigned to research, analyse and develop levels for a steampunk racer style game, ideas that will supplement the original game ideas and design styles.
initial ideas is to research particular books/reading materials that relate to the time frame this game suggests.
theres a volume of visual media from the game idea already, which helps give an idea of what to work towards.
for now its just the case of reading up all the info of the game so far as well as researching our own ideas to supplement.
